Day 2: Delhi to Bikaner
Start your day by gaining a fresh perspective on Delhi with a youth-led tour through the Rootsofindiaandnepal-supported City Walk project. Then, delve into the history and culture of Old Delhi as you visit iconic landmarks like the Jama Masjid and a historic Sikh temple. In the evening, hop aboard an overnight train and wake up in the vibrant city of Bikaner.
Rootofindia for Good Moment: City Walk (2–3 km)
Join a unique walking tour led by a guide from the G Adventures-supported City Walk project. This tour not only offers an authentic view of Delhi but also supports at-risk youth by funding their education. Your guide, a former at-risk youth, will share their personal insights and experiences, offering a deeper understanding of life in India.

Old Delhi Guided Walk (1 hour)
Immerse yourself in the historic charm of Old Delhi with a guided walk. Visit Jama Masjid, the grand mosque with a courtyard that accommodates up to 25,000 worshippers, and the Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, a revered Sikh temple built in 1783.
Overnight Train: Delhi to Bikaner (8 hours)
End your day like a local with an overnight train journey to Bikaner. Relax, settle in, and catch up on some well-deserved rest as you travel to your next destination.
Arrive early in Bikaner, a semi-arid region of the Thar Desert, characterized by rolling sand dunes and charming scattered villages. After freshening up, board local jeeps for a scenic ride to the sandy village of Raisar. Enjoy a guided tour of the village before heading to a camp atop a dune, where a hearty lunch and some relaxation await.
Local Van: Bikaner to Raisar (1 hour)
Settle into your seat and take in the desert views on this comfortable ride to Rāisar.
Camel Cart Ride & Desert Camping (6–7 hours)
After lunch, climb aboard camel carts for an adventurous 2–3 hour journey through the dunes, soaking up the beauty of the Thar Desert. Arrive at the perfect spot just in time to witness the sun sinking below the horizon, painting the vast landscape in vivid red and orange hues.
As night falls, head to your overnight campsite. Pitch your tent with assistance from friendly cameleers and local villagers, then enjoy a simple yet delicious Indian dinner under the starry desert sky. Drift off to sleep, serenaded by the tranquil sounds of the desert.
Rise early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes and feel the warmth of the desert sand beneath your feet. After breakfast, transfer back to Bikaner and embark on an orientation stroll through the Old City, exploring its vibrant markets and historic streets.

Bikaner Orientation Tour (30 minutes – 1 hour)

Travel southeast to Udaipur, renowned for its stunning lakes and regal Raj-era palaces. Upon arrival, embark on an orientation walk through the Old City to get acquainted with its charming streets and vibrant atmosphere.
You have the option to visit the breathtaking Lake Palace, an island palace crafted from white marble on Pichola Lake, or explore the impressive Jagdish Temple or the City Palace and Museum.
